Selection of Appraiser

Appraiser - a person who has the appropriate qualifications, skills and experience to carry out valuation. The document confirming his qualification is a document (diploma) issued by the relevant higher education institution confirming  appraisers' qualification or a certificate issued by the Azerbaijan Society of Appraisers, a professional association of Appraisers.

Appraiser:

  • should have a higher education in economics, law or technical field to receive a certificate;
  • must have appropriate competence to value different categories of assets in the market;
  • must know the valuation methods, be able to use them correctly, and continuously  improve his qualification in order to carry out the correct valuation;
  • Must be a member of a professional association specializing in the field of valuation, operating on the basis of International and National Valuation Standards;
  • must comply with the requirements of related standards.

Exceptions are allowed in cases stipulated by the legislation.

Appraisers who meet these requirements are registered in the Register of the Azerbaijan Society of Appraisers and information is provided on the website www.aqc.az. Appraisers give an exam after participating as listeners in advanced training courses organized by ASA in various fields and, depending on the result, receive a Certificate confirming their professional training in the appropriate field. Certificates are issued for 5 years in the following areas:

  • Valuation of residential real estate;
  • Valuation of commercial objects;
  • Valuation of industrial facilities;
  • Valuation of machines and mechanisms;
  • Valuation of operating enterprises (business);
  • Valuation of motor vehicles.

Upon concluding a contract with an appraiser, the customer must request the following documents from the appraiser, depending on the type of property being appraised:

  • Certificate confirming professional training in the relevant field;
  • ASA membership card;
